This page is a Hope Alive 845 tribute to the late John Daryl Lacenere.
July 11, 1979 - February 22, 2025
John D. Lacenere was a native of Orange County, NY who loved his family dearly (Wife, Karen,
Sons, John Todd and Cole, and Parents, Bonnie and John Sr.). He cared for his friends and
colleagues loyally, and he served his community in a variety of ways: looking after his patients
as a Board-Certified Pedorthist, supporting good and honest candidates and issues as an
elected committeeman for his political party, and most importantly, he fiercely advocated for
the youth of his community. John was a leader involved in the management of his local school
district as an elected Trustee to the Board of Education for the Enlarged City School District of
Middletown for two terms of office where he always fought for what he believed was right and
just for the students, employees, and taxpayers of the district. He especially advocated for the
trades, special education, and youth in sports in wanting to keep them positively engaged, off
the streets, and safe (out of harm’s way).
John also supported local businesses and featured local youth on the social media page he
started called “Buy Local in Middletown and the Town of Wallkill” on Facebook. John met his
colleague and friend, Nicole Hewson while serving together in elected office where they both
fiercely advocated “in the trenches together” as what has become known as “digital soldiers in
during a time in history known as the “Information War” and the uncovering of just how bad
human trafficking and exploitation are in this world. This is where they both met and heard
about Domingo Ramos, Founder of Hope Alive 845 who was trying to be heard within the
public education system to teach the youth of Orange and Sullivan Counties street safety and
how to avoid situations of abduction, abuse, and human trafficking, Domingo also advocated
to let the kids keep their phones in schools as they can be used to find clues in missing
persons cases.
Between 2021 and 2022, John felt led to transition his home and family in a move to Florida
where he started his own business and worked for his local police department while also
pursuing a new political candidacy in Florida. In this time he gifted the social media page
administrator role to Nicole while staying involved with his native home county from a distance.
She changed the name to Orange County, NY Community Bulletin Board with John’s blessing,
and with their continued efforts, the page continued to grow. It now has thousands of
members and continues to be used to advertise missing people for Hope Alive 845. John
remained involved with the page up until his sudden passing in 2025. In September of 2025
Nicole won the Hope Alive 845 Award for this work, and with John’s parents in the audience,
she received it in memory of and in partnership with John. Nicole was quoted as saying about
her colleague and friend, that “John was a brilliant political mind, and could argue like a lawyer/
pundit with the best, knew the law and Biblical scripture by heart!”
This work John was a part of continues. His mother, Bonnie, and his son Cole and John Todd,
have all taken an interest in helping Hope Alive 845 and the work on Orange County, NY
Community Bulletin Board continues helping the missing and being a place where Hope Alive
845 fundraising and education efforts are actively shared with the public. John has truly left a
beautiful legacy for his wife, sons, and parents to be very proud of..
